On December 15, 2021 Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched a sports scheme named Sports Action toward Harnessing Aspiration of Youth (SAHAY) for the naxal hit areas in the state. This scheme intends to provide right opportunities to the youth in the naxal hit areas. It aims at engaging the youth in such areas to sports activities in order to prevent them from indulging in violence and rebel activities. Under this scheme the youngsters in such areas will be provided with a platform for participating in sporting activities like football, hockey, volleyball and athletics. The state government will provide will provide funds to the players who will be participating in the events. Sports nurseries will also be set up by the state government in maoist districts in the state. This scheme will thereby tend to indulge the youth in sports thus preventing them from the influence of naxalites.
