Vajpayee Arogyashree Scheme (VAS) is the scheme by Government of Karnataka for the welfare of people who are below poverty line. The scheme ensures that no people from BPL category remains deprived of getting better medical facilities. Under the scheme the beneficiary will get the cashless treatment at any public hospital and the payment will be fulfilled by government. The scheme mostly targets rural people but it is also applicable on urban area people. There is no conditions on the type of illness treated and surgeries are also treated all are subsidized by government.
Benefits of Vajpayee Arogyashree Scheme:
- No age limit: To avail the scheme there is no age limit only the person head in the family must have a BPL card
- No need of having previous ailment: The scheme does not demand for any kind of history of having illness. Any new disease is also treated.
- One card and treatment of complete family: Each family must have at least one card. On one card whole family can take treatment
- Cashless treatment: The beneficiary does not need to have cash at time of treatment
Eligibility for Vajpayee Arogyashree Scheme:
- Person need to be from Below Poverty Line category (BPL)
- Person must also have Vajpayee Card
- The benefit is restricted to maximum member of family in a year

- Resident proof (Aadhar Number, Ration Card, Landline telephone bill by MTNL, Driving License, Domicile certificate or Bank passbook of Nationalize banks)
- Aadhar card
- Passport size photographs

- Combine family photograph

Food and Civil supplies department already maintains the data of people who are under poverty line and issues the Vajpayee Arogyashree card for cashless treatment
