Kerala state has started Vertical Garden Scheme in the state under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). This scheme intends to support the beneficiaries to set up vertical garden for planting. To set up the vertical garden beneficiary will get beneficiary will get 75% of setting up the vertical garden and 25% of the cost will borne by the beneficiary. Vertical Garden – Arka takes up 1 sqm space and has four vertical levels for planting. The structure consists of base frame, main central support connected to the base frame, and supporters. This structure can occupy about 16 pots of different sizes. Interested beneficiaries can apply online on the official website on or before March 1, 2022.

Scheme Benefits:
- SHM will provide 75% subsidy on the total cost of structure.
- Only 25% of the cost will have to be borne by the beneficiary.
- The beneficiary will also be provided with seeds, supplies, plant nutrition, etc.
- Structures are equipped with drip irrigation facility.
- Vegetables like spinach, tomatoes, brinjals, etc may be grown using these structures.

Eligibility:
- Applicant must be a resident of Kerala state.
- He/she must be a native of corporation regions of Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Trichur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts.
- He/ she must pay beneficiary contribution (25% of total cost – Rs 5835) to SHM-Kerala in advance.

- Passport size photo

- In the News & Events column click on the apply now link for Arka Vertical Garden.
- Go through the details available thereby and click on Apply Now.
- Accordingly Register, Login and fill in the form with required details.
- Upload necessary documents in prescribed format and submit.
- Take a printout of the duly submitted form for future reference.
