Tamil Nadu government newly launched a Wedding Scheme for persons with disabilities in the state. Chief Minister MK Stalin undertook the launch on December 8, 2021. Under this scheme the state government allows free conduct of marriages between persons of disabilities in temples across the state. Beneficiaries will also be able to rent Kalyana Mandapams attached to the temples for free. Temples would provide saris and dhotis to the couples under this scheme. This scheme tends to ensure welfare of the persons with disabilities in the state. This scheme will be implemented under the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.
