YSR Bima Scheme, Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh government has come up with ‘YSR Bima Scheme’ for the poor and unorganized workers across the state. This is an insurance scheme against accidents faced by the unorganized workers in the state. In case of death/ disability of the worker the family faces difficult times, thus this insurance scheme will provide a social security to the worker and his family. All the unorganized workers in the age group of 18-70 will be covered under this scheme. The state government will pay the entire insurance premium on behalf of the beneficiary.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:

• The main objective of this scheme is to provide a security or cover in case of any unfortunate event of death or disability
• This scheme will assist the family of the worker in case of death of the worker
• It provides financial assistance in the form of insurance cover
• All the workers registered under Unorganized Workers Social Security Act, 2008 will be covered under this scheme
• This scheme will provide social security to the beneficiaries

Eligibility:

• Applicant should be registered as an unorganized worker
• Age of the applicant should be in between 18-59 years
• Assistance can be claimed only in case of death or disability of the worker applicant
• Applicant should apply under the scheme and pay premium of Rs. 15 is to be paid as specified by Commissioner of Labour, to the volunteers
• Applicant should have a Bank A/c

Benefit/ Assistance under the scheme:

For age group – 18-59 years

• Rs. 5,00,000/- in case of accident death and total disability
• Rs. 3,62,500/- in case of partial disability
• Rs. 30,000/- in case of natural death

For age group – 60-70 years

• Rs. 4,25,000/- in case of accident death and total disability
• Rs. 3,25,000/- in case of partial disability

How to Apply:

• The applicant is required to provide an undertaking stating he is an unorganized worker
• Then all the necessary documents are to be submitted to the volunteers in the survey
• Along with the documents Rs. 15 as premium is also to be given to the volunteers
• Documents verification will be done by the concerned authorities
• Thereby once the verification is done, YSR Bima Card will be issued
• For checking the beneficiary list, the applicant has to visit @ bima.ap.gov.in

Key Points:

• Under YSR Bima scheme, the unorganized workers will get the insurance cover from the state government
• Financial assistance will be provided in case of unfortunate events of death or disability
• The state government pays the premium amount of the insurance policy to the institutions
• Amount of assistance will be transferred to the bank account linked within 15 days of the claim
• This scheme tends to cover 2.5 crore unorganized workers
• It is a convergence of central schemes, Aam Admi Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyothi Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Surakhsa Bima Yojana
• The estimated value of the scheme is Rs. 510 crores for current year
• This scheme will provide an assistance as well as social security to the family members of the unorganized worker in case of unforeseen event death or disability
