J&K government has launched Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Jammu & Kashmir (AB-PMJAYJK) in the state. It is based on the PM`s ambitious mega health insurance scheme Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) which provides cashless treatment to all the poor families in the state. 31 lakh citizens of the J&K will get benefited from the scheme.
The governor of the J&K Satya Pal Malik launched the AB-PMJAYJK. He also distributed golden cards to the 10 beneficiaries of the scheme on the launch on 1st December 2018. The main objective of the scheme is to make sure that everyone has access to good health care services. Health insurance coverage of Rs. 5 lakh is provided to each of the poor families in the state under the scheme. They can go to any of the empaneled government or private hospital to avail benefits of the scheme.

- All the BPL families in J&K are eligible
- All those who`s name is in the BPL list announced in SECC-11
