On September 28, 2021, Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma launched a new Chief Minister’s Covid Relief scheme for ensuring welfare of drivers, conductors and handymen of inter district passenger buses in the state. In view of the hardships faced by the people employed in inter-district bus services during the pandemic, the state government has launched this scheme. Under this scheme one time financial assistance will be provided to the beneficiaries. This amount is deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The vehicle owner has to register himself with the Transport department on the official portal @comtransport.assam.gov.in. Through this scheme the state government tends to ensure social security of the beneficiaries in the state.
