Tamil Nadu government has come up with Chief Minister’s Nutritive Vegetable Garden Scheme for boosting the vegetable cultivation in the state. The scheme details were provided in the state assembly on August 14, 2021 by Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam. Under this scheme the state government tends to encourage the cultivation of fresh vegetables by women at homes. This will enable easy availability fresh home grown vegetables. State and central government will together contribute for distributing seeds to the households in rural as well as urban areas. Total outlay to be incurred by the state government for this scheme is estimated as Rs. 95 crores.
