e-Sanjeevani OPDs scheme, Gujarat

On October 8, 2020, Thursday, CMO Gujarat, Mr. Vijay Rupani announced the implementation of e-Sanjeevani OPDs scheme through videoconferencing in the state. It is a central government scheme now implemented in Gujarat state. This scheme is mainly to provide online medical facility to the patients from common diseases. This scheme is a boon in current times of social distancing. Also, this scheme will be beneficial to the people in rural areas as it will help them with expert consultation and that too without actually going all the way to the CHC/PHC. This scheme will enable a direct contact between the doctor and the patient.

• People from rural areas will not have to go all the way to the CHC/PHC due to the implementation of this scheme

Scheme Details:  

• CM e-dedicated the e-Sanjeevani OPDs scheme in the state on October 8, 2020
• This announcement was made through video conferencing
• This unique scheme is a central government scheme which is now being implemented in the Gujarat sate
• Under this scheme medical facility will be provided to the patients for common diseases online at their homes
• This will reduce the additional load on the hospitals and OPDs
• This scheme will be maximum beneficial in this current pandemic situation thereby maintaining social distancing
• CM announced it as an extension to the free treatment and medicines being supplied to the Covid-19 patients directly at their homes
• This scheme is easy to use at the beneficiaries’ end, only a 2-way video call facility is the basic requirement
• The scheme will lead to a direct communication between the patient and the doctor
• This will help the rural patients to get the expert consultation through video call instead of going all the way to the CHC/PHC
• It is one step ahead of the tele medicine facility for diagnosis on phone
• This scheme tends to cover the medical colleges and young doctors
• Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitinbhai Patel, Principal Secretary for Health at Gandhinagar, District Collector, DDOs and other officers were also present at this e-launch
• CM also praised the state’s health personnel and administration for working with extreme dedication to fight these crucial times of pandemic
