Himachal Pradesh government has launched Mukhyamantri Aashirwad Yojana & will provide free baby kits to new born babies born in government hospitals in the state. The infants will be given will get a kit with 15 items worth Rs. 1,500. The scheme is expected to benefits 1 lakh mothers & infants in the state. The distribution of the free baby kit will start from December 2018.
The primary objective of the scheme is to encourage families in the Himachal to go to hospitals during the child birth. The hygienic baby products will also save new born from any infections. The state government has another scheme for the expectant mothers under which they are given a financial assistance of Rs. 700 per month during pregnancy for nutritious food.

Eligibility:
- The scheme is applicable only in Himachal Pradesh
- Free baby kits will be given to only those who are born in government hospitals
Baby Kit Items: The CM Aashirwad Scheme new born kit contains 15 items: suit, pair of vests (baniyan), velvet cloth, pair of gloves (dastane), pair of socks, massage oil, towel, 6 nappies, mosquito curtain (machardani), blanket, 1 toy. The kit will also include toothpaste & tooth brush, bathing soap, vaseline & sanitizer for mother.
The Aashirwad Scheme was announced during the state budget 2018-19. It was approved by the HP cabinet in November 2018. The scheme will be finally launched in December 2018. The distribution of free baby kits will start now.
