Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (MKUY) Bihar: girls in Bihar to get scholarships upto Rs. 25,000 | Benefits, eligibility, application form & procedure

Chief Minister of Bihar Shree Nitish Kumar launched Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (MKUY), a scheme for the girls and women in the state. It is a scholarship scheme to provide financial assistance to the girls for their studies. The objective of the scheme is to encourage families and girls towards education. The Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (MKUY) is only for the Bihar unmarried girls who pass 12th class (10+2). Such girls will be given a scholarship of Rs. 10,000 and girls who completed graduation will be given Rs. 25,000 irrespective of their marital status. The objective of the scheme is to promote girls education in the state and stop child marriage, lower fertility rates and decrease population in the state.

Total of Rs. 54,000 is given to the girls family from the birth till graduation under the scheme. The scheme is applicable to the only two girls per family. Parents are given Rs. 2,000 when the girl is born in the family. The education department in Bihar is given the responsibility to implement the scheme. The money is transferred using the direct debit facility into the beneficiaries account.

  • Applicant should be resident of Bihar
  • Applicant family members should not be in government service
  • Applicable only to the first two girls in the family
  • Applicable only when the girls birth is registered
  • Rs. 10,000 scholarship is given to only those who are unmarried and passed 12th class
  • Rs. 25,000 scholarship is given to only those who has completed their graduation

  • At girl childbirth: Rs, 2000
  • On completion of 1st year: Rs. 1000
  • On completion of vaccination: Rs. 2000
  • For sanitary napkins: Rs. 300
  • On completion of 12th class: Rs. 10,000
  • On completion of graduation: Rs. 25,000
