CMO Gujarat, Vijay Rupani announced Mukhyamantri Mahila Kalyan Scheme (MMKS) was launched on September 17, 2020, on the occasion of PM Narendra Modi’s birthday. This scheme is launched in the state mainly for providing interest free loans to the women in self-help groups. In rural areas the scheme is implemented by Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company and in urban areas it is implemented by Gujarat Urban Livelihood Promotion Company. Gujarat government has planned an outlay of Rs. 1000 crores to these groups to get registered as joint liability and earning groups (JLEGs). This scheme aims to cover about 10 lakh urban and rural women across the state. Under the scheme member women can avail loan up to Rs. 1 lakh at 0% interest.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:
- The main objective of the scheme is to empower the women
- This scheme aims to provide 0% interest loans to the women belonging to SHGs registered as joint liability and earnings group
- About 10 lakh women in the state will be covered under the scheme
- Stamp duty charges are waived off for these loans
- It aims to encourage the financial stability of women across the state.
- It will also encourage women to take up self-employment opportunities and earn regular income
- The scheme will better the way of living of these women and their families.

- Applicant woman should be permanent resident of Gujarat
- She should be a part of self-help group

- Mukhyamantri Mahila Kalyan Yojana is a scheme launched by Gujarat government for women across the state
- This scheme aims at benefitting about 10 lakh rural and urban women belonging to self-help groups by providing interest free loans up to Rs. 1 lakh

- About 1,00,000 JLEGs are planned to be formed in the urban and rural areas. 50,000 each
