Delhi Government is planning to launch Scholarship Scheme for Higher Studies Abroad for Dalit Students. Under the scheme students from SC/ST categories will be given financial assistance to pursue post graduation in foreign universities. The primary objective of the scheme is to empower students from the backward communities & to provide them equal opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria:
- This scheme is applicable for SC/ST students only
- Income Limit: Applicant`s family income must not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per year
- Age Limit: Applicants age should not be more than 30 years
- Applicants should be resident of Delhi only
- Only one child from a family can apply for the scheme
- Courses: M.Phil, PhD, LLM, M.Tech and other higher education courses
- Meritorious students who has already secured admission in above mentioned courses in foreign universities only can apply
Benefits:
- Scholarship amount of Rs. 10 lakh for 2 year course & Rs. 20 lakh for 4 years course in foreign universities
- Top 100 meritorious students will be chosen for the scheme
The scheme will cost Rs. 5 crore for the state government. The scheme is approved by the Delhi Cabinet & is expected to be launched soon. It will be implemented as part of the budget year 2019-20. Delhi’s SC/ST Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam announced the scheme.
National Overseas Scholarship for Scheduled Caste Students:
- A center government scheme for SC/ST students for study abroad
- Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment implements the scheme
- Students of post-graduation & Ph.D. courses in foreign universities from SC/ST communities can apply for the scheme
- Financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 is given to the selected 100 candidates
- Students of science, engineering, management, medicine, commerce, humanities, social science, & fine arts are eligible under the scheme
