The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) has announced a Teacher Associateship for Research Excellence (TARE) Scheme so that they can continue their research in other institutes or labs. The scheme provides mobility to the faculty members working in the universities or government approved colleges across India so that they can carry out their research work in the areas and institutes of their choice. Science and Engineering Research Board is a Statutory Body Established through an Act of Parliament: SERB Act 2008 Government of India under Ministry Science & Technology.
Teacher Associateship for Research Excellence (TARE) Benefits:
- Allows regular faculty members in the government approved colleges/university to carry out their research in established public funded institution such as IITs, IISc, IISERS, National Institutions (NITs, CSIR, ICAR, ICMR labs and other central institutions) and Central Universities
- Faculty members can perform research in the following areas under the scheme: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences & Mathematical Sciences
- Research fellows get 3 years to complete their research
- Every year 500 faculty members are selected for Teacher Associateship for Research Excellence scheme across India
- Each of the selected research fellow is given fellowship of Rs. 60,000 every year in addition to his own salary
- Yearly research grant of Rs. 5 lakhs is given to parent and host institutes (50% – 50% each)
Terms and Conditions/Eligibility:
- Faculty members from the government recognized institutes and universities only can apply
- The scheme is only for REGULAR employees/teachers
- Applicant faculty members are alloted nearest available established institute
- Applicants can carry out their research till maximum of 3 years under the scheme
- Original salary is given to the researching faculty only if he/she has 90 days of attendance every year in the host institutes
- Faculty members can apply for interdisciplinary disciplines too
- Applicant must be India citizen residing in India
- The applying faculty member must hold Ph.D. degree in Science or MS / MD in Medicine or M.E. / M.Tech. in Engineering / Technology
- Applicant must not be working on any other research project during the submisson
- Age limit: age of the application should not exceed 45 years at the time of the submission. In case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidates the maximum allowed age limit is 50 years
- The mentor of the applicant must be a Scientist E or Associate Professor

- Technical details of the research topic
- Certificate from the investigator
- Endorsement from the parent institute and the institute where the applicant wishes to carry out research
- Age proof
- Caste certificate
- Resume of the mentor
- 90 days attendance certificate from the host institute
