To promote economic development and upliftment of the underprivileged/ economically backward sections

On August 28, 2020, VISWAS yojana (Vanchit Ikai Samooh aur Vargo ke liye Arthik Sahayta yojana) was announced by K. Narayan, Chairman and Managing Director of National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation. The scheme will soon be launched by the central government. It will be implemented by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. This scheme is mainly for the economically backward/ underprivileged category people who have taken bank loans. It aims at providing 5% subsidy per annum through direct cash transfer.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a citizen of India
  • Should belong to a minority/underprivileged section
  • Subsidy will be available to only those who have availed bank loans

How to Apply:

Application process will be either online through a dedicated portal/website or offline at banks. The detailed process will be announced soon.

Key Points:

  • VISHWAS yojana is announced in a webinar hosted by business chamber Assocham by Mr. K. Narayan, Chairman and Managing Director of National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation.
  • The scheme is about to be launched within next 15-30 days
  • This is a central government scheme mainly to provide assistance to the minority/underprivileged/backward sections of the society who have taken bank loans
  • 5% subsidy will be provided to the beneficiaries
  • Bankers are urged to come ahead and support the scheme as it is to be launched soon
  • Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Ramdas Athawale was also present in the webinar and was of opinion more youth should come forward and support the schemes, become a pert of cooperative sector, must avail the benefit of sill development training provided by the ministry.
  • Government is trying to improve and empower the deprived/underprivileged/economically backward sections of the society though various measures and VISHWAS yojana is a leading step towards the same.
