To provide hazzle free transportation and commutation facility to women and senior citizens in Guwahati city

On January 9, 2021, the Assam government started ‘Bhraman Sarathi’ scheme for providing transport service to women and senior citizen in the state for free. CMO Assam Sarbananda Sonowal launched the scheme. This scheme is applicable for Guwahati city. Under this scheme, Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) buses will run for 5 routes in Guwahati city. This is a welfare scheme of the government which would help the senior citizens and women for hazzle free transportation from one place to another in the city.

Scheme Details:

  • CMO Assam launched a new welfare scheme ‘Bhraman Sarathi’ on January 11, 2021
  • This scheme is launched to provide free transport facility to women and senior citizens in the city of Guwahati
  • CM launched 25 pink ASTC buses under this scheme
  • Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) will provide this free commutation service to the beneficiaries
  • This free commutation service will currently ply in for 5 routes in the city namely – Khanapara to Jakulbari via Paltan Bazar; Forest Gate to Jakulbari via Chandmari; Basistha Mandir to Jakulbari via Paltan bazar; Khanapara to Jakulbari via NH/ ISBT and Games village/ Bhetapara to Jakulbari via Paltan Bazar
  • This free transportation and commutation service will provide ease in commutation to the beneficiaries
  • Buses are designed and will be used in a way to provide comfort and safety while travelling
  • At the time of launch, CM also appreciated the efforts and dedicated service of ASTC employees during the pandemic
  • This kind of free commutation service is started in the state for the first time ever.
