On October 1, 2020 Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant launched ‘Swayampurna Goa Scheme’ for economic sustainability in the state by developing various important sectors. This scheme aims to make the state self-reliant and self-sufficient. Initially this scheme was applicable to villages however eventually it extended to the entire state. Under this scheme the state government has appointed swayampurna mitras for village panchayats and municipalities. These swayampurna mitras identify problems and deficiencies in their ward and make efforts to resolve the same. This scheme focuses on making villages and cities self sufficient through public participation. Aspects majorly covered under this scheme include Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Youth and Adolescent, Senior Citizens, Women and SHGs, Tourism, Fisheries, Natural Resources, etc. This scheme is being successfully implemented throughout the state.

- On October 23, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address Goans and have direct conversation with one sarpanch, one chairperson of municipality, one swayampurna mitra and four scheme beneficiaries regarding the implementation and benefits received by them through this initiative.
