The Government of Bihar has announced Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana (BRFSY) to provide financial assistance to the farmers in the state in case of crop damage due to natural calamities. The scheme is the replacement of the Center Government`s Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and not actually not a insurance / bima scheme. Instead new BRFSY is the guaranteed financial assistance scheme and the farmers doesn’t even need to pay premium for the same as in case of PMFBY they need to pay premium to insure their crop.

Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana (BRFSY): Objectives:
- To support and empower farmers
- To provide them financial assistance in case crop loss due to natural calamities
- To stop farmer suicides
Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY):
- Guaranteed financial assistance scheme for the farmers of Bihar
- If the farmers production is 20% of the threshold limit then he will get Rs. 7,500 per hectare for upto to hectares
- If the loss is more than 20% then the farmer will get Rs. 10,000 per hectare for upto to hectares
- Replacement of the existing Narendra Modi scheme Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
- Farmers dont need to pay any premium as BRFSY is the assistance scheme and not an issuance scheme
- Farmers are benefited more and the insurance companies are not as it used to be the case in PMFBY
