The Department of Posts, Government of India has launched the philately scholarship scheme called as Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana -Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude and Research in Stamps as a Hobby. This is primarily a scholarship scheme for the post stamp collectors and under the scheme the people who has a hobby of collecting postal stamps are rewarded. The scholarship is meant for the promotion of the aptitude and research in the stamps collections. This aim of this scheme is to generate interest in Philately among students.
The postal department of Tamil Nadu has announced a competition for the postal stamp collection hobbyists. The students are invited by the Postal Department of Tamil Nadu for philately competition. The competition is scheduled on August 12, 2018. Students between class 6th till class 9th with good academic record are eligible to take part in the competition. The competition involves Philately Quiz. The Philately Projects scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the competition to the students who are ready to pursue philately as a hobby in the Tamil Nadu Postal Circle. The amount of scholarship per awardee is of Rs 6,000 per year i.e a monthly scholarship of Rs 500.

Philately Competition: Eligibility
- Students studying in class 6th to 9th from recognized school within India
- School which has Philately Club and the student members of the club
- In case the school philately club has not established then a student having its own Philately Deposit Account may be also considered
- A student should have a good academic record having scored at least 60% marks or equivalent grade/grade points in the recent final examination
- There will be 5% relaxation for SC/ST
Philately Competition 2018: Selection Process
The selection process consists of a two-level which are as follows:
- Level 1 – Regional level philately written quiz: Will be conducted on August 12, 2018, by the postal authorities in their respective regions
- Level 2 – Philately Project: Selected students in the regional level will have to submit a Philately Project for the final selection
Philately Competition: Pattern, Instructions
- Philately Written Quiz: It will be Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) quiz consisting of 50 questions on following subjects
- Current Affairs
- History
- Science
- Sports
- Culture
- Geography
- Philately (Local & National)
- Philately Project: Project should not be more than 4 to 5 pages. Maximum 16 stamps can be used and the report should not be more than 500 words
- Students selected in the written quiz will get the detailed list of the philately project topics
- Broad guidelines must be followed while writing the project
- The project must be submitted on any one of the topics from the list provided by their post office circle

- Philately Written Quiz Exam Date: 12th August 2018
- Last Date of Submit of Application Form: 30th July 2018
Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana: Amount & Disbursement of Scholarship
- Amount of Scholarship: Selected candidates will get scholarship amount of Rs 6,000 per year i.e Rs 500 month
- Disbursement of Scholarship: The scholarship amount will be deposited in the students joint account with their parents

STEP 2: Fill in the complete application form, for those fields which are not applicable write NA in front of them (Make sure that the application is filled in correctly and completely, incorrect/incomplete applications will be rejected)
STEP 3: Paste one passport size photograph
